Silk road, another thing to add to history class

A few years back, I started to be interested in the Silk Road.   It was because of a documentary on the mummies in China:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzZDLKI0c7Q
There was also a serie that was going along the Silk Road.  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qer5yTyYvI one of many episode)
I think there are more to it.  But those two are the ones that had the most impact on me.

A few days ago, I discovered that there was a sea conterpart:

Specialists seems to have turned their sight to this part of the Silk Road.  I know there was various routes that composed the Silk Road.  This add more to what existed on the mainland.  With the text on the Maritine Silk Road, I think there would be the need to say "the Silk Roads".  It would reflect more the reality of the many roads of the Silk Road.

This would add to an more interesting history class.  History class should be more than dry dates or dry chain of events.  History is more rich than that.  It should reflect this more.
