My oldest daugther is part of a group. They meet once a week for ten weeks. It is in the afternoon. It is a small group, only six children. They are working on their equilibrium and with two ergotherapists. All the children enjoy it. There are a suspended bag they can hold on, it is pear shaped. Also a rope ladder and two bars holded by ropes. There is even an trampoline. Work is hidden under play. Children have a lot of fun.
Today, I received some ticket for the show, at the end of the group. I am happy that my daughter will do a show. It is for a small audience. I remember, as a child, I had done a few shows like one with my skating class. It gave me an experience that I could not had otherwise. In the shows I have done, each person had a part.
A show is a bit thing. Lot of practice. Even if the practice and the show itself is the end result of the creative process, each person in the show have a personal touch to give. I hope my daughter will have fun doing this show.

Intentions down the drain
I have an intention to create more. Right now, it is going down the drain. Lot of appointment. Not easy to find time to sit down and create something. Would like to have a few hours to get intricate craft objects. I don't have the luxury. I have to find projects that can be made quickly or in a limited amount of time. Or put the more long projects into chunks. I don't it will be easy. I find it hard to leave a project and come back later.
On the other hand, I feel the need to do something. I want to create. I had always been most effective in the evening. It is just that lately, it had troubles to do something in the evening. My evenings are shorter now. In that case, maybe a better planning for evenings? It is not easy to solve.
I could take some chunk of time to dedicate to my projects. I am a bit reticent, even if it could be a solution. What I dislike in that: I feel robbing of the spur of the moment. I am more in the creating when I feel inspired. Can be hard to work in these conditions. It goes smoother if I have a clear idea of what I want to do. Once I feel inspired, it goes fast and well.
So, I guess I have to balance inspiration and available time. Easier said than done. I will have to experiement. Lot of experimentation. I feel there is just that in my life right now. Lot of adaptation on my part. I would like to find a more sure footing. Just hope to find the balance quickly. I am in a hectic period. Once in calmer water, I will find it easier to balance everything.
Lot of rambling. I am just frustrated by the state of my creativity. I don't feel I am doing something on the creative side. I seems to have lost it in the flurry of real life.

Learning new words
I learned a new word. It is great to learn about a new thing. Didn't expected it would be related to the Silk Roads again. Recently, I discovered there was also a Maritime Silk Road. What I learned about the Silk Roads? It is the word "Caravansary". Here is the place where I learned about that word:
http://archaeology.about.com/od/caterms/qt/caravansary.htm
So, a caravansary is the place where people on the Silk Roads stays for the night. It is a fancy name for the inns on the Silk Roads. It seems also to be a place with some luxuries. It seems to be big places, even with a market, water, supplies, things for the camels... Those places look like a specialized inns. Maybe modern inns could channel the caravansary for new ideas.
I don't know if I should take that as a sign. I have been thinking a lot about the Silk Road lately. It is the second thing that I learned about the Silk Roads. Of course, I somewhat feel wiser because of that. I am also happy to learn something new, something on a area I though I knew kind of well. I don't consider myself an expert on the Silk Roads but I think I may know more than the average person.
As I learned about the caravansary, my mind started to work. Would be nice to write a story about a special road like the Silk Roads. I don't want to do something like an historical/romantized story on the Silk Roads. As I said just above, I am not an expert. I would like to create something with the Silk Roads as an inspiration. I think it is a nice jumpboard with what I recencly learned.

Addicted to scents
I admit it: I am addicted to scents. I like to have scented candles once in a while. I had a period where I burned incense. Now, I do less. It been a while since I burned some. I do have some packs of incense. I am not tempted now because we are in colder season. Maybe I would burn some when the temperature will be less cold.
What I like the most is essential oils. I like the scent, even if it is strong. I like to mix them. I had some blends under my belt but they aren't all sweet smelling. Some are strong smelling, maybe I haven't found the right mix between them. Or I have to rethink the composition of those blend. I know about some scents are short term, others are for the long term and there the middles ones. I haven't play with that yet, I think it would be time for me to play with that.
I don't know why I like scents. It is like my interest for gems and rocks. Is it linked with the senses? The scents is a more recent interest. Gems and rocks are a more ancient interest. I really got more interested to play with scent while I took a soap class. In the class, we were using melt and pour soaps. We would add essential oils and colours. It is where I wanted to go deeper in the world of scent. Well, of essential oils more specifically. It must be part of a wild side where I would take some control. I am able to mix and create. I do have put some scent in the candles I had made. It had been a wild that I had made candles.
I am not ready to go on to become a nose for perfume. It is the only thing that I am not ready to do. Perfumes can be nice to smell but I find it is too much overpowering. It is not something that I like to use. I can't put it on, anyway. I doin't like to put scents directly on my skin. Maybe perfume is too much chemical and essential oils are powerful but aren't used as perfume can. I think I prefer to have scent in the air around me than on me.

Making a notebook
I have started making a notebook. I have made the signatures. The signatures are four sheets of paper folded in two. I have made many. So, I could do many notebooks, if I want. I have folded the sheets of paper with a bone folder (here an example of a bone folder: http://www.amazon.ca/Books-Hand-Bone-Folder-Inch/dp/B0025U13HW/ref=wl_mb_wl_huc_mrai_3_dp
So, I am ready to do the next step. It is to assemble the signatures together. There are many ways. I have to decide what I will do. I can do as I have learned in my book repair class: up to 3 notches in the signature, put a thread in each notches, put some glue, put some bookcloth (what bookcloth look like: http://www.amazon.ca/Books-Bookcloth-University-Products-Inc/dp/B00M8OQCI0/ref=sr_1_10?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1427075298&sr=1-10&keywords=bookcloth), more glue and leave to dry. Once dried, a cover made with cardboard, put some book binding tape inside the cardboard. The corners was reinforced with tape and voilĂ ! The notebook was finished. It is how I learned to do it.
I had seen some video on youtube on other techniques like the coptic stitche. I also bought some books on the topic. I am tempted to try a new technique but, on the other hand, I would like to refresh myself. I could do both by separating the signatures in some piles. I have enough for that. So, I have to make some decision before going on.
Choices, not always easy to chooses...

Dreaming dreams
There are time where my dream life is more active, other times it is less active. It seems to go into cycle of activity and inactivity. I am in a period of activity right now. This period of activity seems to be linked with my activities in real life. I like having dreams. They are usually weird in a good way.
I haven't gone deeper in understanding my dreams. I didn't look much for the meanings of the symbolism, yet. The only thing I noticed is the lack of theme. Since I started to record my dreams, I could find themes I had. Usually, one theme is prevalent for a good amont of time. There can be very brief period where there is no theme. Eventually, a theme emarge.
At this moment, I don't have any theme that link all recent dreams. They seems to be individual dreams. It been a while that this lack of theme is prevalent. I don't know how long this will go on. I don't explain this lack of unity. Does my life lack coherence? Am I in a period of uncertainty? Usually when I question my waking life, there is a theme in my dreamlife. I came to the conclusion that my dreamlife have a knowledge that I don't have access in real life.
I don't know if a theme will emerge soon. Would be nice. I am curious of what the next theme will be. My previous themes were pretty amazing: one theme was the labyrinth, another was linked with Star Trek, even one with sword fighting capabilities. I am curious if I will have another unusual fun or cool theme.

Discovering a glitch
I always thougth that bad luck happened to other when it comes to computer glitches, especially for texts. I always been lucky enough to never loose data. Well, today, I wanted to access a text. I discovered that the text I opened only had two pages and I knew it had more. Even the backup had the same problem. My only hope now reside in the paper version I have and where I made some improvement. It will be a pain to type it all over again. I guess that I am not immune to technological gliches. I just wonder that even safeguard had failed me too. I still wonder how it got to this way. I come to think it had to do with some unforeseen curruption or an accidental mishap on my part.
I don't understand what happened. I guess it may be time to find a third way to safeguard all of my texts. I have a lot of big chunky long texts. I put a lot of effort in them. On the other hand, I am lucky to have learned how to type fast. Not fast enough to my taste but enough that I will be able to repair this glich. At least, I have discovered all this. Not too late to fix it.
Technology is good. It is nice to keep my texts on a computer and where I can edit them easily. In my experience in other area, when technology goes bad, it is a pain. It is not funny, especially the alternative that must be taken. This may be why I am not too deeply immersed in technology. My texts are the most important data I have on my computer.
Now, this event force me to work on my texts and be more up to date in my revision.

Silk road, another thing to add to history class
A few years back, I started to be interested in the Silk Road. It was because of a documentary on the mummies in China: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzZDLKI0c7Q
There was also a serie that was going along the Silk Road. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qer5yTyYvI one of many episode)
I think there are more to it. But those two are the ones that had the most impact on me.
A few days ago, I discovered that there was a sea conterpart:
http://archaeology.about.com/od/transportation/fl/The-Ancient-Maritime-Silk-Road-3000-Years-of-International-Trading.htm
Specialists seems to have turned their sight to this part of the Silk Road. I know there was various routes that composed the Silk Road. This add more to what existed on the mainland. With the text on the Maritine Silk Road, I think there would be the need to say "the Silk Roads". It would reflect more the reality of the many roads of the Silk Road.
This would add to an more interesting history class. History class should be more than dry dates or dry chain of events. History is more rich than that. It should reflect this more.

How strange things can be
It must be psychological. In the past, I had a period where I hated to print with a computer's printer. No matter where, no matter how careful I was, there was problem with the printer. I never understood what I was doing wrong. A few days ago, it seems to come back, but less severe. It is more a little iching bug. It is mainly a delay in printing.
I am not a technological person. I can use a computer and can type. I learned how to type on the computer. I just haven't explored how to create. Of course, I had try my hand at collage with some photos. I just haven't gotten further than that. I use the computer to work on my writing. It is useful. I can edit the texts to my satisfaction.
I wonder if I can create more on the computer. I know that collage on the computer is simple to understand and can be tricky depending what I want to make. I learned the basic. I know that what I tried was a little bit crude. It was not profesional looking. I also tried drawing on the computer but I feel a bit frustrated. I felt more precise with a pen. I am not interested in video making for the moment. I don't really feel photogenic.
So, there are area where I feel at ease when it comes to computer. Other areas are a bit more nebulous. I don't know if I want to explore more creativity on the computer. For the moment, I just feel being in a strange mixture of knowledge and don't having abilities with the directness of computers.

HIstory class should include useless trivia
Just saw this video. It is about men as first fashion models:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecRcrD6jZRw
I think there are a few other video with some similar forgotten facts on our past, on the same channel. It is fun useless facts on history. History isn't just about dates, chains of events, military battles, about various leaders. Maybe it is why people don't like history in school. It feel detached from the lives of people.
Great events are good to know but there isn't just that in history. What about other area of life? What is outside purely political life? History can be made less dry. Just by telling how people where dressed, how they lived, what kind of music was popular, things that are not longer in used, how clothes were recycled, etc...
People don't always grasped how the generation past lived. How it could be ressourceful. Maybe historian are more glory oriented or find it more easy to study big events before the life of commoner.

Soap Factory, the real deal!
I was wondering what soap factories look liked. I was also curious on how soap was made on a larger scale. I found a few videos about both. Iti is not perfect because I haven't found much on video of soap factory. It is a beginning.

I hate the phone!
I hate phone call with a passion. Just the idea of talking by phone is igniting my hatred. The idea of picking the phone to do a phone call freeze me solid. I think that the phone is the worst invention even created. As a teenager, I wasn't a great conversationalist while on the phone. The only place where I did some effort was at my grandma's place. Family was worth the effort of being nice over the phone, with some cringing with two persons.
The reason of my cringing while talking with those two? They were shouting in the phone. The oldest one was the worse. I knew that in old time, the phone lines weren't that good. On long distance, shouting was probably a necessity. When I could head loud and clear the other person shouting while the handset at arm length, it was overbearing. Too much for me. Those people must have a course on modern phone operation. No longer the need to shout over the phone. It is my biggest repellent when it come to communication over the phone. By chance, I haven't encountered this in a long time.
Another thing I hate is when a person call in, ask for the lady of the house and use my boyfriend family name. I hate that! I may be picky but I feel that the other person did a basic research in the phonebook and didn't go further. They aren't going on to ask my family name. So, when this happen, now, I say there is no woman with this family name living here. It cut short the phone call. It is nice. to have this solution.
I hate doing phone call. Why? I find it is leading to a formal conversation. I also feel that I have to get my thought organised and going on the target fast. I am not a fast person when on live conversation. I find it worse on the phone. I have to get all the message on a limited timeline. If I forget something, I have to call in again. Not that pleasant.
This lead to another thing that I hate. Now, it seems to be a trend to put the answering machine, probably to filter message or because the person is contantly busy. It add a filter and a delay in the conversation. The other person have a control to talk to you or when to do it. I don't have a pleasant time with it, especially when I have to explain a situation or give some informations for the person to call back. I am always affraid to forget something.
For all those reasons, I do hate phone and phone call!

The ultimate act of creation
What is the ultimate act of creation? I guess it depens on who we ask. On a personal level, I would say that creating a new life is the ultimate act of creation. Of course, it is not for everyones. It is a commitment. It demands a lot. For those who are really in the mindset, sacrifices is nothing.
There isn't much control over this act of creation. It is like thowing dices. Not a word on the look of the child, no control on the genes, no control on the charcter of the infant. The baby comes to this world with strength and weaknesses. No control over that either. No control on particularities like speach disorders, need for ergotherapy, eczema, or other similar barriers. The parents have to go along all this.
On the other hand, there are some rewards. Children have their own intelligence. They are not dumb. They know what is going on around them, even if they can't put it in words. As a parent, we go along with the succes and failure of the child. There is also the relationship that is build up with then, a bond. The parent and the child grow together in their respective role.
Today, it is the 7th birthday where I say that a child is the ultimate act of creation. Today, it is the birthday of my oldest child. I hope to transmit this to my children. A child is precious, no matter if a parent had lost one or not.

R.I.P. Leonard Nimoy
I mainly knew Leonard Nimoy with his Spock role. I found it cool, as a character. He was a outsider with some link of a insider. The character had a duality that made him relatable. It was also cool to see how his character acted: really calm and logical. There is a hint of human in him too. I have learned, with time, how he came up with the Vulcan sign. I know that on the internet, he tell the tale about it. It is very entertaining to ear him talk about it. It was a blessing from his religion. Looking at something not meant to be seen may have come to a purpose for him.
Maybe Leonard Nimoy was meant to see the blessing and it assured him a place in history. He had used it respecffully, I think. He haven't desecrate it and he seems to have the need to explore it. It had shaped him, in a way. A few months ago, I learned he had work on this sign in art (photos I think). I found it intesting that he had a interest in photos.
What I found sad is that I learned more about his career with his death. I didn't knew he directed "3 men and a baby". With all this information, I come to think that Leonard Nimoy is a complete person, a artist. Many came out to pay their respects. It is a good indication of his being.
He is someone that deserve to be remembered. Live long and prosper in the afterlive, Mr. Nimoy.
