A trigger leads to an idea.

I look at this video, curious about the title.  I never heard of a serval cat before:

After seeing the cat in action and what he look like, my little neurone start to work.  Of course, I learned something new in the process.  On the other hand, it is not an animal that is commonly seen in my little part of the world.  I am sure the same thing would be said by people from other part of the world about the animals that live here.

So, seeing that cat that look foreign to me makes me think.  I wrote a lot of fantasy stuff that are set of other planets.  I never been much specific on the flora and fauna of those places.  Seeing this beautiful serval cat makes me wonder if I would be able to create something special for each of the worlds I had created.  It is a bit a challenge that I set for myself.  I have nothing to loose and my worlds would gain in precision in the process.  I just have to create somethign plausible.

I know that in other well known fictious universes, really weird fauna and/or flora had been created.  I know that I don't want to go to the end of the spectrum where everything is alien looking for us.  I just want to find a equilibrium.  I want to create a sense of familarity (where people would says: "I have seen that somewhere") while throwing some perticuliarities, for a sensation of off balance and uneasiness.  A thought order, I know.  I think I may guide a bit on animal a little bit like the serval cat.  I think he have the qualities I want in what I want to create.

I think it will a joyride, well, could be using that to feed my inner soft mad scientist in me!
