I think I am late in the news or I didn't followed closely enough in biology class. It seems that some species have a penis bone. I found it in this video called «Why Don't Human Have a Penis Bone?»:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPCdXAIA3Mc
This other one:have the same topic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3lr2_DGJjw. Same title but the second one is from SciShow. I am tempted to put the one done with the SciShow a bit more credibility. Must be the name of the channel that gvies me more confidence in this topic. I wonder if one channel copied the other or they did that topic independently.
Well, It is nice to have two videos on the same topic. It give some credibility on the content. Okay, youtube video is not the best place to get valid facts. In the two videos, if I remember well, they talk of the baculum, the more scientific term of penis bone. So, I took up myvarious paper verions of the dictionary. I didn't found what I am searching on. Even my encyclopeaedic dictionary didn't have it. Time to invest in an encyclopeaedia, I guess. Or I go to the library to find the answer. I know that modern time librarians are not the old maid of older times. I just feel a bit blushing to talk about that. I am not used to my local library, so, it is inevitable that I have to ask about the encyclopeaedia. The librarian may be curious on why I need to consult those books. There is the problem. Even if sex is now not taboo, I still have a bit of blushing when it comes to that topic of anatomy. So, I know that I am sky about exposing some interest in intimate biology. When it comes to a public area, it is a bit more ardeous to get the topic out. Must be a cultural thing.
I have done a research with the word «baculum» on google and there is a few scientific articles on the topic. Here is a few: https://www.theguardian.com/science/2016/dec/14/why-dont-humans-have-a-penis-bone-scientists-may-now-know-baculum
http://theconversation.com/how-penis-bones-help-primates-win-the-mating-game-and-why-humans-might-have-lost-theirs-70312
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/why-humans-have-no-penis-bone/
http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2016/12/why-humans-lost-their-penis-bone
http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2016/12/why-humans-lost-their-penis-bone
Now, with all this useless information, something that I would like to learn sooner, I am tempted to use it in a story. I gues it would be an selling story. Sex and sexality are a seller.

Urban Legent or Folklore?
Just listened the most recent Seriously Strange video on 5 European Urban Legends on YouTube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbAomfZnxF0
Very informative video. There was most creatures that I didn't knew about. The exception was Dracula, the character because, well, the fame he get from books and movies. Dracula and vampires, in general, are very famous creature of the night. No need lenghty intorduction. Strygoi is a less known verision of the vampire but a local touch is always welcomed.
It makes me think. What is the difference between an urban legend and folklore? I had always thought that folklore was old unbeliveavle tales. For the urban legend, I thought it was cautionary modern tales based on real or fiction facts. Now, does urban legend becoming a kind of folklore for modern times? Seems so. I just don't get it when it is applied to old folk creatures.
Maybe it is just me. I am not the type to categorize people. Maybe I am more rigid whyen it come to folklore, urban legends and mythology. I feel each have it's specifics charecteristics. I guess it is the modern times that have a tendency to blurr definitions and mash everything in the same basked. So, I am an old style of person in that area. I just hope people don't see that in other area of my life...

Photo experimentation
Next thing, I tought it would be cool trying photographing on the inside, from the top glass. Here is the best two example I got:
Finally, I took a photo from a different view of the waiting room I am on the saturday morning:
I think this photo is the best one I took that day. I will try to tweak the experimentation of the top glass photo.

Finding an use for the green fabric
As seen above, I have found an use for my left over green fabric. I had used that fabric in my tries for pin cushion. So, with some of the left over, I had used them to repair this knitted big blanket. I knitted it myself a long time ago. It was a bit of an experiment. I will see if the repair will hold on. I
It also got me thinking. It was part giving me inspiration and made me remember about patchwork. I could do a patchwork blanket. I could use the remaining green fabric with a few other to do a patchwrok blanket. I will have to do some research to be sure of myself. I have an idea on how to do it but I do not know if it is the proper way to do it. In addition, I am curious how people are doing it.
I knew of someone who had done one for me many decade ago. It is a bit sad that it is too late to ask that person question about patchwork. It is good to have connection but less so when the person is desease. Well, I am not out of ressources. I am sure I can find information somewhere. It is easy to look up for a video on that topic.

Soap Making
I just made a batch of soap making. I also had new molds. I tried them, for fun and because I have them. It look nice.:
It was time to do some soap. I also use essential soap like sage and mint in them. It smell very good. i forgot to put some honey in it. Well, I will try to remember next time. I want to see if adding a bit of honey is as good as having a soap base with honey. It will be a good try with those new molds. Honey and bee are a no brainer. The association is too easy.

Hermes Tales of the Trickster
I am following the Olympian graphic novel from Georges O'Connor (his official website:https://www.georgeoconnorbooks.com/ and the Olympian serie website: http://olympiansrule.com/) So, the latest installement is on Hermes, the famous trickster and speedster by excellence (https://www.amazon.ca/Olympians-Hermes-Trickster-George-OConnor/dp/162672525X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1518383354&sr=8-1&keywords=george+oconnor).
I am happily surprised in liking this one. I think his childhood mischief is the best part. The auther had done a great job redering the adventures this god had. I won't spoil the end part even if it can be a classic storytelling device. On the adult side, the depiction of Hermes is an handsome man but quite on the over cheery mode. Well, I guess the author had to stick with the source material. I am less into the over joy that Pan could bring to Hermes.
This serie of graphic novel is the best introduction to Greek mythology that I could find until now. Of course, the serie of Crash Course on Mythology (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRCVcuA6yZQ&list=PL8dPuuaLjXtNCG9Vq7vdvJytS-F-xGi7_) is great for a more general introduction to mythology in general. Both are great starting point to jumpstart into the marvelous world of mythology. I always had been inpired by mythology. Stumbling on those two ressources was a great discovery. I wished to find them sooner. With them, my path into mythology would had been easier. So, instead, I am doing the next best thing: I pass the word around for those two ressources around!

Resin and Seed Beads
I tried to make a bezel with seed beads for a piece of bezel.
Here is my first try, free hand. It was not really succesful:
Here is my piece of resin. It is two halves that was put together:
So, as the free hand seed beads beading was not working, I turned to my loom for seed beads:
This is when I glued the loomed seed beads to the resin. The extra lenght of sead bead is for the loop to insert a chain:
Here is the finished product:
I could not use a thread and needle to close the extra lenght of sead beads The glue had infiltrated into the holes of the seed beads that was glued to the resin part. So, I have glued the extremity of the seed beads and glued it to the rest. I guest it will not be secure, in the long run.
Well, it was definitively an learning experience. Next time, I will probably use a different thread for beading the seed beads. I will also close the extra part of the seed beads with thread and needle before glueing the seed beads to the resin. It will be another experiement and I am curious to see if it will be more successful. I don't deny that this project looks good. It is worth to tweak this project a bit more toward perfection.

A finished embroidery project
I just finished an long embroidery project. It took a long time to finish it.
Here is the front:
I won't show the back because the back is uglier and messier than the front. The front is the most decent looking. I done this piece of embroidery to test many things. I wanted to matches colours together. I also wanted to see if I could be able to fill a whole embroidery fabric. I wanted to practice embroidery too.
So, I fufilled all my goals by finishing this piece. I am happy to finish it. Will I do another? I think so but I will take a little vacation from embroidery for a little while. It is time consuming. There was time where I was absorbed by this project. I was not minded toward other projects. Now, I want to do some other projects, just to change my mind.

Cozy waiting room
I wish I could take a better photo of this waiting room. I may try again when I return there. It mainly show the waiting room I am in pretty much each saturday morning. On the left, there is three shelves with toys. There is also a little kitchen toy in the left too. I will try to take a photo of the left side. Maybe I should had taken two photos to show this waiting room right. On the wall, there is various pieces of information like advice on speach therapy or strategies in occupational therapy. It is mainly on the black boards. There is a table where there is the big toy.
I like the small chairs for the small children. It is easier for them to sit on those chair. For adult shair, I must admit that I must wake up once in a while. The chair are not made to be sit on for long period of time. That place and also fill up rapidly. Beside that, it is nice and quiet when the activities goes on.

Dionysus, hipster, trendsetter and avant-garde guy
Dionysus, the god of wine and theater. The Roman equivalent is Bacchus. I never been keen on Dionysus, even if he had an interesting background. His story is quite an adventure. He had been born twice. He been initiated into Cybele's mysteries. He traveled quite around, as far as India. He was the advocate in spreading the wine culture. Dionysus also have his group of groupies called the Maenads. Satyrs also follow Dionysus around. Wherever they go, there is a party.
If we take him today, Dionysus would be an hipster, a member of the lgtb scene due to his cross dressing, a trendsetter (I am sure he would invent the hipster movement) and he would be definitively an avant garde guy. This Dionysus may have insublate some of his spirit in artist like David Bower (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Bowie) It is my personal modern interpretation of Dionysus. If he was here today, I would probably getting more interested in him. He would be cool. He would be himself and be acknowledge for what he was. He would be more than the wine god.
Dionysus would be more selleable that way, for sure! There is deities like Persephone that have the modern image of being a goth and rave partying girl. It is a bit sad that not all Greek deities have an modern interest. The modern image of Dionysus is a bit too much serious and wine oriented. Dionysus have a frosted side due to his patronage of theater. He deserve to be a modern cool hispter trendy guy.

Long forgotten earrings
I found those earrings. I forgot about them. It should not been that way. Those earring was made in a class done in a craft store. Those earrings are a bit of rogues earrings. I never really worked with feathers before or since.
It didn't stop me from collecting feathers. Those earrings got me interested in various natural feathers. My intention is to use the feather I have to makes earrings. Thinking of it, I could add a necklace too. It would be a fun experiment. I have also have the component to crimp the feathers secure.
It is nice to find an old project and get ideas from it. It would also a good idea to get a class or two. It can also trigger some interesting idea. A little creative push can do so much!

Colour in soap
Experimenting soap in combination with colour bring interesting resuls:
The effect is interesting. I mixed various grated soaps and it gave this result. Now, I want ot eperiment even more. I do not know if it is possible to marble soap. Mainly to do it myself. I know that when I try something, I do not always have the desired result. It is a principle that I discovered iearlier: What I have in mind does not always translate well into the conctete real world.
The above photo is a good start in experimentation between soap and colour, even if I didn't have this in mind when I did those soap. I will have to make up some soap soon. I have to think how I will do what I want to do without disastrous result. Would be nice to be able to talk with someone who is knowledgeable. I would like to have some advice or get an conversation on this beofre hand.
