Creating is a messy learning process. As a child, the messy part is not a big concern. Returning to creation as a adult, is another thing. As an adult, a few elementary step are forgotten. I learned that the hard way. Protecting working surface is one of this crucial step. I learned it the hard way and will not forget it. I had a few bad adventure I won't forget.
One time, I worked on my washer for candle making. A little spill and the result is quite stunning. The wax got even into the washer. Oh the work to get everything clean again! You can smile thinking of me bended in the washer while getting rid of the wax. By chance, I don't have a photo to add to the shame.
As a child, I had a bad experience involving paint. I was left without supervision for a few moment with the paint, in the basement. I ended up with paint on my forearms. My mom wasn't happy as she cleaned me up. A lot of elbow grease and powerful stuff to get rid of the paint. I should have remembered the lesson later in life. My older daughter had spread a product I was using to make pendants. It wasn't where it supposed to be. It demanded a lot of work to removed it. Another lesson: sometimes, it better to clean it while it is still fresh.
Now, I learned my lessons. Protection is always good while creating. Now, the basic of creating is set. It will clear the way for experimenting with some ideas.
