I stumble on two articles. One talk on knitting with a crochet (https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/how-to-knit-using-a-crochet-hook-979399?utm_campaign=artcraftsl&utm_medium=email&utm_source=cn_nl&utm_content=17070941&utm_term=list_gl_dt_crafts-default) and the other one is one knitting style that isn't English nor Continental (https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/how-to-knit-using-a-crochet-hook-979399?utm_campaign=artcraftsl&utm_medium=email&utm_source=cn_nl&utm_content=17070941&utm_term=list_gl_dt_crafts-default). That style of knitting is the Portuguese knitting.
I like the knitting with a hook best. I like to hijack a tools and makes something else with it. I am thinking of giving it a try. I even found a kit (https://www.amazon.com/Knook-Expanded-Beginner-Leisure-Arts/dp/1464704066/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=knook&qid=1560174401&s=gateway&sr=8-1). I don't want to invest much to try it. I want to see if I like that first before getting more involved in it. If it can bridge crochet and knitting, it could motivate me to go more with crochet. For now, I can do a chain with crochet but I don't know other crochet stitches.
For the Portuguese knitting, I find getting the tension with the yarn over the neck to be imaginative. I just not sure if I can change my pattern of knitting. I am a bit affraid to learn a new style because I will get the impression to start all over again. I don't like feeling frustration because I don't go quick and that I have to learn anew. I gave a try with crochet right handed and it was really a pain. I have to thought of all the movement. I knew that with my left hand, I knew how to do it wihout thinking about it. I think I will let the positive side for the people who would need that technique. It seems to be easy with projects that require many colours. The article mention also that those with some health condition (carpal tunnel, arthritis and joint pain). So, all the better for those people.
I really like making that kind of new discovery. It remind me that I need to think more of outside the box and find that kind of ideas all by myself.
