I think I will have a lot of fun with those brass metal sheets.  First thought: some earrings.  I don't know if I could do some setting with that metal.  An experiment!  It is just bad that I haven't seen any other ones since I made the purchase.

In the nude again -- The ugly trees saga

Well, I don't know if it is me but the denuding of the ugly tree trunks are a bit late this year.  There are some leaves left but they are close to the trunk.  I prefer not to see ugly trunks.  It would be fun to have a kind of prostesis to hide those trunk from view but leaving the leaves on sight.

This is my test

I think I failed to show the nuts on the branch.  I think I could try from another angle.  Worth the try...
On the other side, I took a photo with two different trees with different colours of leaves.  A nice constrast:

Some purchase

It is a tiny fraction of what I have recently purchased.  Yup, I am into a latch hook kit period, I think.  Would be nice to be able to have a bit more kit or be able to do our own project, without kits.  I was happy to find the ladybugs beads.  I found bead that look like malachite, one of my favorite stone after obsidian and lapis lazuli.  The leaves are a sure purchase for me.  More beads for my beads stockpile!

A labor of time

Latch hood of the tiger kit: done!  It was really a labor of time.  I have shown the front and the reverse because I find both side have it's own charm.  It is really big and really long to make.  I am glad to have done smaller kits before this one!

As usual, I have some leftover yarn.  I put them aside:

Experiment with a cap

I decided to experiemnt with a white cap.  I took cans of fabric paint and use it on the cap, just to saw the result:

I wanted to see if two colours on the cap would be interesting.  Not a total success.  It was not what I had in mind.  It is a bit patchy.  It would fit more a military exercice in camouflage than anything else.  Better chance next time...

A different type of mosaique

I found some kit that was on a interesting reduction.  I wanted to try them.  Here is the results:

Here are the two box the kits was in.  The two flower like design are variant of the same design.  My result is not as beautiful as on the box:

I guess I am not good at everything.  I may have been too in a hurry to do it.  I find it a bit hard to put nicely the pieces together.  It was not easy, especially to make the form.  In this case, it would have been nice to have someone who is more expert in this field than me.  Advice from one person to another is valuable and is not available elsewhere than on one on one.

It look mysterious but no big deal

I had always been a bit curious about mosaique.  How did they did it?  It looked so mysterious.  Well, I bought a kit and finally, decided to do it.  The instruction was very helpful because I knew nothing about that.  So, I did it and was surprised.  It is less complicated than I thought.  Of course, I didn't used the nipper, even if it was in the kit.  I wasn't ready to used them, especially on my first time.  I wanted to build my confidence.  Finally, it was easy to do.  Well, I was able to do it and it is well set.
Here is the result, before the grout, with the grout and after putting some oil on the tiles:

I must admit that putting the grout was fun and easy.  I think I will do it again but, there is a but: 1) I will have a bit more experience.  I feel a bit more equiped to do it.  I think I will care a bit more on the tile when I do the sponge.  2) I will be more careful and thoughtful in the design.  There will be more care for that.  I did the one above quickly and it was more for trying.

Now, I am no longer affraid to do mosaique.  The barrier is fallen and I feel I can make something out of this new knowledge under my belt.

Latch hook kit part 2

It took me a day to do this:

It look a bit different but it is the same.  I didn't expect to do it so fast.  The last one I had done (the owl) took me more time than that and it was the same size than this baby tiger.  Maybe this time, I had the time to sit down and do only that.  It was a bit therapeutic.  It was nice to forget everything else and do only that.   I don't know if it was me but the pattern was a little bit more elaborated than the others I had done in the past.  Well, I feel confident in being able the last two kit I have.  They are bigger.  It will be the first time that I will do bigger projects.  Would be nice to have big projects to do for latch hook.  I would be ready to do a more advanced project, to see if I am on the advanced level.

Simple and easy

There are area where it should be simple and easy.  It is also be something that I should think about but it is not always easy to go in that direction.  Let's take craft for kids.  It is the perfect example.  Here is an example:

Simple to make, easy to do.  Nothing complicated.  It was just a matter of thinking about it.  The rest is under hand being common items in a family home.  It is the kind of thing that would be fun to think about by myself and do it.

During my unplanned shopping trip, I decided to buy a latch hook kit:

A baby tiger, very cute.  I thought that it would be a nice crafting project to do.  I already have two other (bigger) kits that are waiting to be done:

Language

Learning a new language is not always easy.  It seems particuliarly hard for adult, it seems.  Well, it is my experience.  On the other hand, there are ways to makes it easier.  Well, I met, a long time ago, someone that was able to do that.  I had Spanish classes with that person and he made the learning of the language easy.  I wish there was more language to learn at the time.  I would had liked to further learn spanish and learn a few other languages with that teacher.  It is always more enjoyable to learn in a group setting too.  The immersion into the language is also helping to learn the language.

Since that class, I forgot much of what I learned Spanish wise.  I didn't practiced much after that.  It is a bit of a loss.  It would had been fun to be fluent in that language, even it wasn't the main objective of the class.  The objective of the class was more of being an introduction class to spanish.  The thing that seems to have remain: if I hear two peoples speaking Spanish, I can recognice it is spanish and sometimes, I can discern some isolated words.  As I ear those words, it seems that I remember the word.  It is more about concrete and usual words.  I don't know if I pick up the study of the Spanish language again, if it will be easy and if the small amount I learned would come back.

Why learning another language?  Well, I don't need the translation nor the subtitle.  It is less tiring to understand a language than read the subtitle.  Subtite can be a bit tiring and it must be a fast read.  There are times where subtitles don't stay long enough for slower readers to read all.  It can be harder to reade when the background where the subtitle are makes the reading even harder.  Another cool thing: if in one place with only one language, I can speak in another language with somebody else and we won't be understood by those surronding us.  The only thing that I don't like: I am bilingual and where I am, the two language I am proheficient at are communly spoken.  So, I don't have any advantages.  If I take a Spanish class again, it would be more for my amusement because there a big community of speaker of that language.  Of course, it will be easier to learn the language because I know of a lot of native Spanish speakers.  Maybe I could learn a more exotic language like Russian...

Shopping planning

I am thinking to go to the craft store.  Most often, I have a list of much needed items.  It is extremely rare that I go to the craft store without a list.  There was always at least one or two items that I have to fetch.  Of course, even with a list, there are times where I encounter some impulse items that I couldn't resist.  Often, it is because I didn't expected or thought about that impulse items.

So, I am planning to go to the craft store.  This time, it is a bit different.  I go there for some activities that get my curiosity.  I want to know more.  I never enrolled in those activities at that place.  So, I want to inform myself and see if encrollement in particuliar one is possible.  It may be a bit late.  I am not sure of anything.  It is a big gamble.  I should have asked more last time I got to that particuliar store.

At the same time, I want to maximise my visit there.  Having classes for me or a quick one for someone else is good.  I may browse the store by the same occasion.  I don't have anything that I need or that I have in my mind.  I am more in a «use what I get under hand» right now.  So, for my next trip for the craft store, I am thinking to go to some area of  the craft store: the jewelry part, of course.  I am not sure if I will take some soap base.  I may also look at the area of cross stitches and embrodery floss.  Maybe the textile part too but not sure if I will take something.

It is strange to go there without a firm shopping list.  It will be a new experience, in a sense.  I am not totally used to that.  It is not something that I do on a regular basis.  Maybe I will find a few items that I haven't thought of before.  No expectation, some surprises and seeing what will come out of it.
